Renovated Edwardian flat in the heart of Haight Ashbury! This striking building boasts a classic period façade, and the residence is enhanced by refined details including wood paneling, inlaid hardwood floors, ceiling rosettes, classic plaster moldings, soaring coved ceilings, wainscoting, curved walls, and bay windows. An open floorplan with an intuitive flow allows for several flexible living arrangements. The gracious entry foyer provides a wonderful spot for a seating area or office and the home is exceptionally bright with windows on all sides. To the right of the foyer is a lovely living room, with a large east-facing curved window bay and built-in bookshelves. Adjacent to the living room is a generous bedroom or den (originally a double parlor), separated by pocket doors and presenting another light-filled curved window bay. To the left of the foyer is an elegant formal dining room, which flows into a beautiful chef’s kitchen, equipped with luxurious marble countertops, a gleaming subway tile backsplash, and stainless-steel deluxe appliances including a gas range with hood and a dishwasher.

Around the corner is a sizeable second bedroom, and off the hallway are multiple closets allowing for excellent storage space. The attractive second bathroom is outfitted with subway tile in the shower over tub and mosaic tile flooring.

At the back of the home is the impressive primary suite, consisting of an expansive bedroom with a sliding glass door to a deck, a walk-in closet, and a gorgeous primary bathroom appointed with a double shower ensconced in Carrera marble and a contemporary double vanity. The sunny deck has a stone surface and ample room for seating and entertaining. An office alcove provides additional access to the deck (without having to enter the bedroom), and another closet with a stacked washer and dryer and additional storage.

The unit includes one-car independent parking in the garage and a private storage room. The building systems have all been updated with structural and seismic upgrades, soundproofing between units, sprinklers, newer electrical, plumbing, roof, and foundation (it was taken down to the studs in 2006).

Fantastic location a block from Haight Street with fabulous NOPA and Cole Valley restaurants, cafes and stores close by, as well as Golden Gate Park and Buena Vista Park. The location is convenient to MUNI and freeways. Come see this sophisticated flat for yourself; the juxtaposition of charming period details with modern systems and finishes and an open plan is a rare find.

Neighborhood Gallery

1121 Masonic Avenue #B

At the center of Haight Ashbury is one of the most famous intersections in America. The epicenter of the counter culture movement, home to the Grateful Dead, the Haight Ashbury Free clinic, and the hippies of the 60s, today Haight Ashbury still retains a heady whiff of those free-spirited days, grounded by a new civic awareness and neighborhood pride.

Tourists still come from around the world to check out the action on Haight Street, and they find plenty of it. Trendy boutiques like Upper Playground, Buffalo Exchange and American Apparel sell the coolest looks. Independent record store Amoeba offers free in-store performances and proves there's still life in the music industry. When the hubbub of Haight Street proves too much, Golden Gate Park, with its new world-class museums, the DeYoung and the California Academy of Sciences, offer a calm oasis.

Renovation of the neighborhood Victorians continues apace. Converted to apartments in the 60s these homes are being rediscovered by families who take them on as hobby, pastime, passion, and investment. For families with young kids, the Haight Ashbury Coop Nursery School, now in its third decade, provides an inexpensive alternative to day care from its home in the Alma Street playground.
